Editorial Policy

CalculatorVillage is maintained by topic editorial desks, not by named individual experts. This page explains what that means, how sources are chosen, and how to get an error fixed.

Who maintains the calculators

Work is organized into editorial desks by topic: finance, health, construction, math, business, education, and everyday tools. Each desk is responsible for the formulas, assumptions, source references, and usability checks in its area. The desks and what each one covers are listed on the editorial standards page. We do not invent individual reviewers, credentials, or professional biographies. Where a page needs a qualification, it states the limit plainly instead of borrowing authority the site does not have.

How sources are chosen

Every calculator is built from a documented formula. For regulated or technical topics the desk checks that formula against a public authority, such as the IRS, the SEC, the BLS, the NIH, or Statistics Canada, and lists the sources on the page itself. A blog post, a competitor's calculator, or a search snippet can suggest a question worth answering, but none of them counts as evidence for a formula or a figure. The full sourcing and testing process is described in the methodology.

Assisted drafting and review

Software tools may help draft explanations, organize source notes, or check that a page states its assumptions. They are never a source. A calculator ships only after its desk has worked sample inputs where the correct answer is known, checked edge cases, and confirmed that the worked example on the page matches what the tool actually computes. If no one can verify a formula or a figure to that standard, the page does not publish the claim.

Independence and advertising

Advertising and any commercial relationship do not choose topics, change formulas, soften warnings, or decide corrections. Ads must remain visually distinct from tools and results and must never imitate a calculate button, a result, or a download. The site's purpose and history are described on the about page, and the legal limits on using these estimates are in the disclaimer.

Accuracy, updates, and corrections

Pages that depend on a fiscal season or an agency table state the season they were updated for and are reviewed when the source publishes new figures. If you find an error, use the contact page and include the calculator address, the inputs you used, and the result you expected. Reports with enough detail to reproduce the problem are handled first. Verified errors are fixed in the tool and in its worked example together, so the page never explains a calculation the code no longer performs.

What this site does not do

CalculatorVillage publishes educational estimates for comparison and planning. It does not provide personalized financial, tax, legal, medical, or professional advice, and using a calculator does not create a professional relationship. For a decision that turns on your own tax position, health, or legal obligations, take the estimate to a qualified professional in your jurisdiction and treat the tool's output as preparation, not as the answer.

Important: Educational Purposes OnlyThe calculators, estimates, and financial formulas provided on CalculatorVillage.com are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not intended as certified financial planning, tax, legal, or investment advice. Actual rates, terms, and returns will vary. Always consult with a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions.
